Nutrition Information

Please note that the nutrition info for each recipe represents the serving sizes and defaults to be based on a 2,000-calorie-per-day eating plan. Thus, it is not tailored to your child or any specific member of your family, so it's best to use this booklet for meal ideas, and then use the app, Cronometer, or another nutrition tracking app, to figure out the nutrition info for the meal or snack you serve.

It is important that you calculate the nutrition info based on the specific ingredients you use and the quantity of food you serve to your child. This will help ensure your insulin dosing plan aligns with the carbohydrate, protein, and fat in the meal you serve your child.

I hope you enjoy trying some of these foods!

If you have any questions about how someone diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes can safely achieve normal blood glucose & A1C levels, and improve their Type 1 diabetes management outcomes and overall health, please don't hesitate to message or visit:

P.S. – If person with diabetes switches up their meals or tries a new food, it’s important to know that when you reduce the carbs, most people need to dose less insulin (often much less!) at mealtime.  Please work with your diabetes care team and have an insulin dosing plan in place before you make dietary changes for your child. Decisions needs to be made about how much insulin to dose plus how to manage any medications taken.
