Unlocking Hope: A Journey from Overwhelm to Empowerment
Do you feel overwhelmed and confused by the challenges of managing your child's Type 1 diabetes?
Parents, it’s no secret that managing Type 1 diabetes takes courage and some serious skill.
I mean, you’ve been tasked to do the work of an organ, for goodness' sake!
Managing diabetes can seem like a full-time job, consuming your life as you watch it control your child’s daily routines. The juggling of blood glucose checks, insulin dosing decisions, changing schedules, and unpredictable results can lead to sleepless nights and an overwhelming sense of exhaustion and frustration.
Perhaps your child experiences a daily roller coaster of blood glucose levels, stressing you out and making you feel anxious. Maybe you’ve made some strides but still can’t figure out how others achieve stable blood glucose while you struggle, making you wonder, “What am I doing wrong?”
Feeling helpless is a common sentiment, given the confusion and mixed messages about how best to manage diabetes. You may be unsure of which path to follow and the lack of support can add to your frustration. Deep inside, you know that “let your child eat what they want, and simply dose insulin” is not working. You can see how this advice affects your child's blood sugar levels on their CGM. It doesn’t get you to where you and your child want to be.
I know this struggle firsthand because when my son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2015 at the age of 9, it felt like our world was turned upside down.
Like me, I know you’ve probably had many sleepless nights worrying about your kid’s future and longing for a life with less burden and less fear, and my goal is to help you sleep more peacefully while helping you and your child learn how to navigate their diabetes with confidence.
Now there is a way to find the support and knowledge you need to transform your family’s journey, inspired by a study showing how a group of children achieved excellent blood sugar control.
Ready to get started to achieve better diabetes outcomes? Let’s go!

The Nutrition Effect Program unveils the interplay between the three most important variables in effective Type 1 diabetes management: Blood Glucose, Insulin, and Food, and guides you to successfully implement a Therapeutic Carbohydrate Reduction/Low-carb nutrition strategy specifically tailored to the management of Type 1 diabetes, so you can safely achieve the goal of T1D management; normal blood sugar levels to alleviate or avoid health complications, and nourish your child's growing body to ensure their development potential.
I built this program to be what I wished our family had when we first learned of our son’s diagnosis.

"...expertly presented by a professional in the field..."
"This course, expertly presented by a professional in the field as well as parents of a T1D, is a must for all those impacted by T1D, whether it is early in the process of adapting to a "new normal" or in my case, helping to refine the understanding and treatment of T1D as a parent of a young adult who follows a low-carb approach and wants to safely and better control her blood sugar as she becomes more independent.
I would also highly recommend this course for anyone treating T1D to better understand the complexities of working with families and loved ones of T1D."

We want to thank you for a great course. We learned a lot, and you certainly did cause us to reconsider a number of ways we were managing [our child's] T1D.
We would like you to know that it wasn't always easy for us to listen to the information and experience you were sharing. ...we were struggling to accept (and still are) that, despite our best efforts to follow our doctor's advice over the past 14 years, we have not been doing what's best for [our child]. That's a hard reality to face.
You've given us much to think about. Everything we've learned with you has given us more options and more to discuss. Thank you!"

"Sincerely, I think this course is a must."
"Sincerely, I think this course is a must. Even if you don’t agree with a low-carb way of eating (which I do by the way), so far it has really, really, really helped me understand so much about what’s happening. Considering our son is still in the honeymoon phase, we do have a long journey ahead. The course will help so much."

"...the best overview of T1D and blood glucose I have ever heard..."
"...sessions were presented in an organized, detailed and understandable manner, which was quite honestly the best overview of T1D and blood glucose I have ever heard, including comparisons with national and international presenters, endocrinologists, nurse educators and research articles.
I also appreciated the slides about emotional reactions to T1D and the need for understanding what a challenge it is to "do the work of an organ." I benefitted from both the clear content presentation and the empathy for helping our T1D loved ones and ourselves cope with this profound and lifelong condition."

"...helped us to better understand our granddaughter’s nutritional needs..."
"We were very impressed with both you and Matt, Beth. You are both extremely intelligent and presented the information in a way all of us could understand.
As a secondary caregiver (grandparents), it helped us to better understand our granddaughter’s nutritional needs, why nutrition is so important in a diabetic, and the foods that help her stay within a healthy range. Although we are not in control of her dosing, we better understand hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia and why we are giving her corrections or giving her glucose. Thank you so much for helping us better understand the diabetes world."

"With a newly diagnosed 4 year old, I was desperate for more tangible advice and guidance around food choices and nutritional considerations in general."
"I find it overwhelming to try and navigate and vet evidence-based information of the internet. I was looking for key resources and information that I can trust and rely on for guidance.
The program was very clearly structured and communicated. Each week's topic content was well organized, which helped in not feeling overwhelmed by the in-depth information.
The knowledge and resources were also incredibly helpful. My biggest takeaways were the actionable ideas and resources. I was able to troubleshoot and make specific adjustments to her nutrition that quickly had a positive impact on reducing spikes in BG levels. I now have a much better understanding of the impact of nutrition decisions and how to better manage her T1D after taking this course."

"My daughter was diagnosed a couple of weeks before turning 2 years old..."
"After our hospital stay, my husband and I diligently started following the recommendations of her endocrinologist. After a couple of months of following their recommendations, we were unhappy with how high her BG levels always were.
I came across The Nutrition Effect program. I am so happy I signed up because I've been able to learn so much about diabetes and get a better understanding on how food can offer a more manageable life for us.
After completing the program, I was given all the tools to create a nutrition plan that is customized to my daughter's needs. I highly recommend it to any person who has a kid with diabetes."

"I know I'm not alone in all of this."
"Not only has your class helped me so much already, I also appreciate being able to relate and talk to someone that knows exactly how I've felt the past few years.
Many of your experiences you've shared, have really resonated with me. I know I'm not alone in all of this."

"Thank you for showing great compassion and care during the program. I feel truly blessed to have been able to participate..."
"I went into the program with some basic knowledge about a low-carb diet and insulin management but struggled with implementing the changes. What made this program invaluable to me is that it laid out a clear plan of how to implement these changes and provided resources to make the transition easier.
I also like the fact that the info was available through the App because I was able to stay on track by listening in the car or working out. I didn't have to be in front of the computer to watch the modules.
What makes this program unique is Beth and Matt are not just telling you what to do, they have actually done it themselves with great success. They understand on a personal level the struggles one may have and offer guidance on how to address them. Participation in this program has empowered me to teach my son how to have normal blood sugars so he will live a long and healthy life."

"I'm happy my kid is no longer running constantly high!"
"My 2 year old got diagnosed at the end of last year and the first couple of months I was competently lost. Her BG was constantly up and down and i just couldn't figure it out with the tools her endo was giving me. I had read a little bit about low carb but I felt so hesitant to making the change because I simply didn't feel confident enough in my knowledge to go low carb, that's when I came across Beth's course, after taking the program I finally understood how I could safely transition my family into eating low carb and I'm happy my kid is no longer running constantly high.
Beth was really approachable through the length of the course, and she creates a great commitment were you can ask questions and share experiences with other DT1 parents. I highly recommend any families who are struggling with keeping their kid's BG levels in range to give this a try!"

My journey with nutrition began in 2015 when my son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This ignited my passion for driving meaningful change through nutrition and empowering others with T1D to live a quality life fueled by health.
With a deep seated desire for spreading a positive message about real, nutrient-dense food and the positive effect it has on diabetes management and improving the quality of life for people living with type 1 diabetes, I launched T1D Nutrition.
I started my practice by creating a program for families that I wished had existed when my own son was first diagnosed.
I created a signature program which guides families of children diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes to successfully implement a Therapeutic Carbohydrate Reduction/Low-carb nutrition strategy specifically tailored for the management of Type 1 diabetes, to safely achieve normal blood glucose levels and nourish their child's growing body, so they can reduce the burden of Type 1 diabetes management, alleviate or avoid health complications as a result of elevated blood glucose levels, improve their child's Type 1 diabetes outcomes and quality of life, and guide their child to a brighter, healthier future.
